Dexster – Audio Editor, Converter, and More
Founded back in 2001 by Rick Ng, Softdiv Software is a company that specializes in developing top quality multimedia software applications. The software applications developed by the Malaysia-based Softdiv Software company have received numerous awards and great reviews.
We’ve taken a look at several software applications released by Softdiv Software. We took a look at Snosh, an application that can convert audio, video and images to Flash, and we took a look at VIDEOzilla, and application that can comes with a built-in media player and that can convert a vide range of media files from one format to another.
It is now time to take a look at another Softdiv Software-developed application, mainly Dexster. This program weighs in at some 10MB, so on a high-speed internet connection the download will complete in no time at all. Once downloaded, the software can be installed on top of the Windows operating system (OS). In this regard you should know that Dexster works just fine with all versions of the Microsoft-developed OS – this includes Windows XP, Windows Vista, and the latest and greatest, Windows 7.
Dexster is not freeware, so you cannot use it for as long as you want without having to pay. The software is free – but only to try. The software is limited to 9 uses. After that you’ll have to shell out a few bucks to keep using Dexster.
Speaking of which, what can you do with Dexster? You can do several things:
- You can use the application to burn audio CDs.
- You can use the application to edit music tracks. Dexster is an audio editor that also lets you burn audio CDs, isn’t that great? In a visual interface you can apply effects to an audio track, add noise, add silence, insert and change info about a marker, apply filters, reduce vocals, mix stereo channels, and so on.
- You can use Dexster to convert an audio file from one format to another. The application provides support for WAV, MP2, MP3, VOX, WMA, raw audio, MPC, AVI, Audio CD, Ogg Vorbis, G.721, G.723, G.726, AIFF, and AU.
- You can extract audio from videos or from audio CDs.
